Vice Block Grip Torque Test Data

• 7.5-12mm shaft grip torque = 20Nm
• 12-16mm shaft grip torque = 40Nm 
• 16mm and above shaft grip torque = 50Nm+

Example Torque Specs (always refer to your service manual) 

• Fox grip damper cartridge = 16.9Nm 
• Rockshox Charger Damper top Cap = 9Nm 
• Rockshox Super Deluxe Damper shaft main piston nut = 6.8Nm
• Rockshox buttercup housing = 14Nm
• Rockshox Charger rebound steelhead = 14Nm
• Rockshox Charger Damper shaft = 5Nm 

Instructions 

• Always follow your service manual 
• Thoroughly degrease shafts before gripping in vice blocks (using suspension cleaner or IPA) 
• Clean faces of vice blocks to ensure no grit or swarf will be trapped 
• Use a bench vice - do not use vice blocks with pliers/mole grips etc. 
• Start with low clamping force and only increase clamp force enough to meet manufacturer torque specs
